Ah…. pre-Covid travel. We took this trip back in 2019 when I was just 9 years old. It is still one of my most favorite places we’ve been. A big reason why is the resort and suite we stayed in. But also, because of the adventures like lion fishing, the sulphur springs, and waterfall hikes.
Thanks to Hurricane Erik we were able to afford a luxury suite at Sugar Beach and enjoy the entire resort mostly to ourselves. Luckily the storm was downgraded by the time it reached St. Lucia to a topical storm so despite one very windy and rainy day we had a wonderful time.
St Lucia is an Eastern Caribbean island which is famous for its Pitons and five star resorts.
That’s our suite up there that looks like a little cottage on the hill.
One of the most memorable things we did was visit the Sulphur Springs in St Lucia. You know what they don’t tell you? That these springs STINK and they’re super hot. And also weirdly fun. Of course Mom chose to stay dry and take pictures.
Dad had recently gotten into scuba diving and wanted to start getting me certified too so that I could start going with him. I was able to get my PADI Bubblemaker Certiciate right in the pool. This program gives kids 8 and over the chance to breathe underwater for the first time and learn how to use basic scuba gear.
Dad found a local tour guide on Facebook to take us to the waterfalls in St. Lucia. We were able to swim in the waterfalls, learn about plants and we even opened and drank from coconuts.
Mom and I got to ride in the boat while Dad spearfished for our lunch – Lionfish! They cooked it right on the beach for us and we caught the boat right out in front of the resort.
This was my favorite! A chocolate wrap at the onsite treehouse spa. We were in huts up in the trees and the best part? I smelt like chocolate for two days!
St. Lucia was so beautiful and filled with adventure. If you are looking for a remote tropical paradise – this is it! I hope to go back someday although I sense it was a once in a lifetime experience.
